It's the last chance before you are a consultant to get some precious training. You're like, oh OK

Alex
This is Wents and Friends, the podcast of Women in ENT Surgery. I'm Alex Ashman, your host for Season 2. This season we'll be looking at key career advice on returning to training, working less than full time and applying for fellowships. And we'll be looking at factors that can make the working lives of women and minority individuals more challenging. We'll be talking to Ms Michaella Cameron about taking leave and returning to training.

Michaella
I do one challenge this from the outdated idea of what a typical surgeon looks like.

Alex
More here from Ms Lizzie Maughan about combining research and clinical work.

Lizzie
Whereas the research headspace comes from you and it's generative and you have to really bring yourself to the table because there's no one else to bring it.

Alex
We'll be chatting with Miss Sadie Khwaja about imposter syndrome & confidence, and psychological safety.

Sadie
As a surgeon, we are perfectionists and doubt is part of who we are because that makes us good surgeons.

Alex
We'll be hearing from Miss Ellie Warner and Miss Summy Bola

Ellie
It's really interesting to see that actually there's many different ways of doing it and know coming across completely different techniques and different prostheses and even down to kind of grommets that they're using. Everything's quite different.

Alex
And I'll be talking to Mairead Kelly about Less Than Full Time Training.

Mairead
One of the best bits that were the NHS. The expectation that patients to be less than a full time will at least be considered.

Alex
